Breckenridge may be a small town, covering just 5 square miles, but within that space, you’ll find 12 incredible coffee shops. That’s one coffee shop for every 0.4 miles! With so many options, it can be overwhelming to decide where to go, especially if you’re only in town for a weekend. To help you out, our team at The Lodge has gathered our favorite coffee spots so you can experience the best brews in town—just in time for National Coffee Day! While we couldn’t visit every coffee shop in Breckenridge, we’ve highlighted a few top picks. For recommendations on places not listed here, be sure to ask the front desk!
On a Saturday morning, don’t be surprised if there’s a line to get coffee at The Crown. This cozy café is a town favorite, known for its bright, welcoming atmosphere and menu that features everything from coffee and ice cream to cocktails. You can warm up by their large front windows with plenty of natural light or head to the back patio to enjoy one of Breckenridge’s many sunny days.
Any of their espresso-based drinks is a great choice. Their baristas have mastered the art of creamy, smooth espresso drinks. Try mixing cinnamon into the espresso before adding milk for a delightful twist. As for food, the Royal Tiger breakfast burrito is a standout. If you’re in the mood to celebrate your vacation, don’t miss one of their breakfast cocktails, like the Breckenridge Coffee.
If you’re an early riser, Clint’s Coffee House is the place for you. As one of the first shops to open each day, it’s perfect for those who like to catch the sunrise or get an early start. Clint’s has a two-level setup that feels like a cross between a Rocky Mountain coffee shop and a New York deli. Head upstairs to grab a coffee—try the Almond Joy Mocha for a chocolatey treat—then venture downstairs for your food.
Bagel lovers, rejoice! Clint’s has the largest bagel selection in town. Whether you go for a classic sausage, egg, and cheese sandwich like the Boreas or opt for something more unique, like the Rainbow Lake sandwich, you won’t be disappointed.
If you want to skip the hustle and bustle of Main Street, Cuppa Joe on Ridge Street is a must-visit. This quaint coffee shop offers limited seating but packs a punch with its delicious drinks and hearty food. The in-house coffee roaster adds a special touch to the experience, and the local artwork on display gives the shop a creative, welcoming vibe.
For a morning boost, try the Oatmeal Latte, a filling and comforting mix of oatmeal, walnuts, milk, cinnamon, and espresso. It’s a hug in a mug! For a taste of fall, the Maple Cinnamon Latte is a seasonal favorite, blending warm flavors of maple syrup and cinnamon that will leave you dreaming of pumpkin patches and Halloween.
Cool River Coffee House is consistently ranked as one of Summit County’s favorite coffee spots, and it’s easy to see why. With a wide array of pastries, lunch options, and high-quality espresso, this café is a local hotspot, especially on weekends.
Start with a classic iced latte—it’s a great way to judge a coffee shop’s quality. Or, if the chilly Breckenridge weather sets in, switch to a hot version. For lunch, the Turkey Bacon Melt is a standout. While the options may seem basic, Cool River makes them exceptionally delicious.
If you’ve looked up coffee shops in Breckenridge, Semplice Café is likely one of the first to appear. Located on the northern end of town, this humble, hole-in-the-wall shop may be simple in appearance, but its offerings are anything but. The menu features coffee, teas, and sandwiches, all made with fresh, elevated ingredients.
We tried the Mountain Goat and Turkey Jawn sandwiches, both warm and packed with flavor. The café offers limited outdoor seating, so you might have to wait for a spot on their cozy, tree-covered patio. If you’re lucky, you might even meet Christina Brinkley—no, not the celebrity, but the café’s beloved dog!
As you walk down Main Street, you’ll find yourself at a crossroads between The Crown and Mountainview Coffee Shop. While both are excellent choices, Mountainview offers something unique. With quirky artwork and a hand-written menu, the shop exudes a creative, laid-back vibe. Plus, it has a clear view of Peak 8, adding to its charm.
If you visit in early September, don’t miss their Cinnamon Toast Crunch special. This nostalgic treat combines blonde espresso with spiced brown sugar and cinnamon, bringing childhood memories to life with a caffeine kick!
